Hello from Scotland

If you are new to the board or have never made a post before, don't just lurk around, post in here and introduce yourself and your Minor if you have one. It would be great to hear from you.

Hello from Scotland

Post by MoggyJohn »

Hi folks. I’m 37 and I’m in Scotland. I wanted to say a quick hello as I pick up my first (good) Minor on the last weekend of this month, all being well.

I’ve had a couple of basket cases in the past and have learned the “what to look for” lesson the hard way. This time I’ve taken my time to find my dream car, with some well-informed assistance from others.

The current owner is an enthusiast who had the Moggy fully restored a few years ago, and it’s only done a couple of thousand dry miles since. We’ve been chatting for some time now and I can see us keeping in touch permanently. It’s evident that his cars are his pride and joy and I want to look after the Moggy as well as he has for the long-term.

Anyway, as I don’t actually get the car until the end of the month I won’t put any photos up at the moment.

It would good to hear from other owners and to learn from their experiences and best practices when it comes to maintenance and so on. I’m intent on attending rallies etc once the country is back to some degree of normality.
(I also recognise a couple of helpful names from the “other forum”, where I’m also registered, albeit under a different username - hello!)

Apologies in advance for any daft questions.

Firstly, thanks very much Mark. I’ve dropped you a PM.

And Plin, how right you are!!! I actually agreed to buy the car way back at the start of April! It’s been a looooong wait. It’s quite a distance away and COVID-19 has had a big impact on my ability to get it, though my intention had always been to find a car in the summer anyway.

I’ve used the waiting period to clear junk out my garage and kit it out with (almost) all the necessary tools for ongoing maintenance and care. :D

My first drive in it will be 5-6hrs home. It’ll be a little adventure in itself.

I'm nowhere near Scotland but good luck with your new car :) . Minors are great cars and we'd all love to see some photos when you DO finally get it!
Hope you'll enjoy ownership after this long wait.
