Yes, they were delighted. They were German friends of a mate who have holidayed in Scotland for years and thought it would be nice to renew their vows here. I'm glad it made their day.
I wouldn't do a 'paying' wedding though, as I'd hate to disappoint with any possible car mishaps.

Today I attempted to get the heater motor working. If you take the heater shroud off you can spin the blades to start it, but when stopped it won't start again. After a bit of an effort I got the motor out and dismantled it and gave it a clean and a lube and it worked fine on the bench. once replaced it just reverted to being sticky, so I've ordered a new one from the US. I think the problem is that it's a 6 volt motor and 12 volts isn't doing it any good. I've ordered a 12 volt replacement which will fit with minor tweaks. I'm also taking the opportunity to move the ecu and associated relays out of the engine bay and into the dash area - makes things a lot neater. I also flushed the cooling system and added new anti-freeze. Hopefully motor should be here next week.

Heaters tend to be redundant in California!

Driving from the left is very easy to get used to, and some manoeuvres are actually easier from that side.

Heater is now fully operational having purchased a new 12volt motor from Ecklers in the US. They also sent me a thick parts catalogue for my car - you can buy everything for it apparently. I also took the opportunity to move the ecu and associated relays to inside the car under the dash. Engine bay is now a lot tidier.

I've been chasing a coolant leak for a while now, so today bit the bullet and removed the heater connections to see if they were leaking. They are an unusual connection, being a male pipe fitting attached to heater outlet and a female coming from the engine. To detach them involves taking off a false bulkhead which is held in by about a dozen fasteners. Once all removed, I refitted connections with loads of pipe tape, so we'll see if leak is fixed. At the same time, I put car on ramps and started the remaining underside tidy up. I use neutrarust (2 coats), then 2 coats of bonda primer and 2 of chassis black. I managed to get the chassis and floor area up to back axle rust treated, and tomorrow possibly the rest. It's mot time tomorrow, but i don't envisage any probs. I still can't believe how rust free the car is, and that's how I want it to stay. Once it's all done, i'll be injecting loads of dinotrol in all the cavities, so it should last another 66 years.
