Decided today was front screen day...the old one came out unbroken..good start , punched a couple of holes for the wiring, and all was going well, after a little swearing the front screen is in.. :D

Then....is there a secret to fitting the stainless trim???

after an hour and a half struggling decided to call it a day and have a think about it......

hopefully the answer is not " fit it to the rubber before fitting the rubber to the screen/car"

I have read somewhere the original way to fit is put stainless trim in rubber before fitting in car, unlike the later type with plastic trim ,but never done myself

In the factory, they did fit the stainless trims to the rubber after the rubber was fitted to the glass but before the whole lot was fitted to the car.
It IS possible to fit the stainless trim afterwards but it requires time, patience and lubricant.

Day2.
Stripped the screen out and decided to use the new surround that came with it , after trying various ways , settled on glass in the rubber , trim in the rubber then full screen in the opening....lots of Vaseline , string and a rubber hammer and a few hours later it was in...

That's a great achievement. Well done! As for young Drew, he is somebody whose knowledge of cars is much smaller than his ego I think. Isn't his the maroon Traveller on ebay currently for over £10,000
