I rang for a quote today.
I was told by the man on the phone that you don't insure vehicles that are used as everyday cars and that I wouldn't be covered if I used my car to go shopping as I should use my "modern car"
I would only be covered if I was attending a recognised event or a show or a run ( including the MMOC MOT) but not for going shopping, or visiting friends or family etc. Needless to say, I didn't even bother waiting for a quote as, although Gladys isn't my daily driver anymore, when the urge to use her comes upon me, I intend to drive her, whether it's to the dentist, the dog groomers or the shops.

Interesting. My renewal is due in June. I'll be asking some questions and maybe looking elsewhere...

My renewal was in February and as usual the certificate arrived with the ERS (Equity Red Star) logo and on the certificate section 6 is;

6. Limitations as to use

Use for Social Domestic and pleasure purposes and by the policyholder in person in connection with his/her business or profession excluding commercial travelling.

That is what I usually have so in summer I can use it to go to work and back.

I also always check I have the salvage rights just in case something bad happens and I do as it is over 20 years old.

I recently tried to get my daughter added to my policy. As soon as I mentioned she may take it to work they flatly refused.

It appears they have some worrying differences between what they say on the policy and what they say on the phone!

I have always stuck with RH, but I think next time I will shop around and see about a change of insurer.

when i asked about germina,

had to be off road overnight/locked garage, and event/show use only, which meant in winter it was off road by 1600 hrs,

so went to Lv, £128 no restrictions,

not that I use her much,

I've just renewed with rh for £79.07.
Its gone up but mainly because of the insurance tax.

I've never had and such restrictions from RH. My Traveller was my every day transport and because it's off the road I'm using the Mini - both on a classic policy and I don't own a modern car.
