I have been giving Gwen a little bit of attention recently.
Just on the nice days! Yes we have had a couple.
Did all the grease points, checked/adjusted the wheel bearings and she is still going quite well.
She is still using a good bit of oil but no more than she has been.
She was obviously impressed with the attention as when I got in her this morning the interior light came on! This has NEVER worked for me before.
I guess something else will decide to not work very soon to take the place of the light.

I did open and close the door twice after I noticed the light working so I am certain it wasn't the sun :D

Since the manual pump for the washers died a few years ago I have had a cheap plastic switch for the electric pump I fitted.
This was mounted down on the right near my oil pressure and temperature gauges.
The hole in the dash had been bugging me for a while and I had been looking for a suitable momentary switch since. Sometime last year I found one at Maplin so today I decided it was time to fit it......

New washer pump switch

Sorry for the rubbish camera phone picture but you get the idea.
The hole needed opening up slightly but that was easy enough to do.

That seems to suit the dash well, looks rather like the chrome blanking plug used in the very late (K reg) Minors!
I'm using a light switch in MAG to operate the wipers in the first position and wipers/washers in the second position, to free up a switch on the dash.

That's a neat idea but I wanted one that couldn't be left on, being not the only driver and mechanical sympathy is not necessarily something that is guaranteed!

Well MOT time came and went when I was otherwise occupied so I have been catching up with things this week.
I have a fresh MOT and a few advisories to deal with so I have just spent a fortune with ESM.
No pictures as nothing has really happened!

Never mind the photos! :D Great to hear Gwen passed her MOT, hope the advisories were not too much of a surprise and can be easily sorted once your expensive ESM parcel arrives.

A few different bits:
Front suspension bushes so poly bushes ordered.
Very corners of the boot floor very thin but not holed (just about)
Hand brake was borderline and the front brakes were binding ever so slightly, probably just cleaning and adjusting needed on the front but I have ordered new handbrake cables, a full set of cylinders and hoses. Any I don't use will go into 'stock'

Think that is about it really, not too bad really. Sounds worse than it is now I have written it!

One of the advisories was the rear plate was poor, I had previously painted the number black as the paint had worn off. I had done this the morning of the test a few years ago (the paint was still wet during the test!
I had the good intentions to sand back and paint the yellow area black to have black and silver plates but decided it was easier to do this?

New plates.

I got two of them off ebay for £19, cannot really grumble with that!
