1965 Pick Up - Very good condition

Post by RichardJay »

Morris Minor Pick Up 1965

I bought the Pick up recently from a chap who had it in storage for 3 years which wasn’t doing it any good, which is why I bought it. It was always my plan to get it fully roadworthy and pass it on as I do not have the space to keep it. I am the 4th owner.

As a result of it not being used when I got it, it needed light recommissioning and I have now completed the following work
- New rear half shaft seal
- New rear brake line ( from diff to right rear wheel)
- New Brake cylinder
- Oil, filter and coolant change
- New Spark plugs, points and upgraded condenser & distributor cap
- New heater hoses and cylinder head control valve

MOT until July 2021
After doing the above things, I have now had the Pick Up MOT’d (even though it doesn’t need one). It passed with a couple of advisories (Steering rack gaiter and top bearing, leaf spring shackle pins a bit worn). If I was keeping it, I would fix these non essential bits but its perfectly useable and safe without doing them.

Engine & Gearbox
The engine and gearbox are in great shape, there is no crunch when you change down to second. It really is great fun to drive and I am using it as my daily driver.

The exhaust and matching tyres are like new and the paint on the wheels is excellent.

Fuel Tank
Whilst the car runs perfectly fine on the existing fuel tank, I planned to replace it as it has seen better days. However, because of Coronavirus, the new fuel tank which are easy to fit on Pick ups have been on back order and awaiting delivery for over two months. The tank costs £190 plus Vat, however as I said it does run fine with the old tank, and the new one is easy to fit as access is good. I could potentially help with fitting when the tank is available.

Interior
The interior needs completing to the new owners personal taste . I haven’t done it it as my taste might be different to the new owners. The drivers seat has a tear in it. It is useable but if I was keeping it I would replace it. Replacement covers in many colures are available at very reasonable prices (and there are only 2 seats in a Pick Up!).

Bodywork
As can be seen from the pictures, the bodywork is in very good shape. The floor pans are excellent. The chassis is also very solid and has been undersealed by a previous owner.

Other bits
It has had an alternator conversion. All the hoses are in great condition.
I have most of the metal hoops and part of the wooden frame for a canvas to go on the back. The hoops will need tidying.

All in all this is a very nice example of the rare and very sought after ‘Pick Up’s with just a few bits to do to make it an absolute beauty
The price is £12,995 ONO

I do have some spares which I will include with the car

The Pick up is located in Swindon, Wiltshire. I have lots of pictures available
