Jimmy the Jinx strikes again! - or is it Mabel the Morris who is cursed?
War & Peace, Volume 2:raz:

Mabel's MoT due on 26/05, so in prep, arranged to take her over to a mate's garage last night, two post ramp at his home (very handy) to make servicing that bit easier (especially accessing the grease nipples on Jag IRS and the prop)
Due to my ankle still being in a rather large boot, arranged another mate to do the driving. Luckily he came round early, battery a bit flat and offside brake light defective. Discovered that the plastic plate that moves with spring when bulb pushed into place, which has wires attached, was broken. How the fudge? Pushing bulb in too hard? as I do usually remove them and clean contacts after washing car, as water does tend to find its way into light clusters.
Luckily had a spare one from my nearside plastic light cluster that broke last year.
So after an hour of fiddling and with that fixed, duly headed over to carry out service.
Mate hadn't driven Mabel with the 5 speed box before and wasn't quite getting clutch bite position either, so after a few crunches and high rev gear changes, we duly arrived.
Car up to drain oil and immediately notice front nearside spring fractured, handy them being bright red!
Hey ho, rest of service jobs, bar one difficult to get to grease nipple, all done.
Mabel driven home carefully, due to spring issue, still with a few interesting gear changes! and then straight onto good old internet to order a flexible hose for grease gun and new springs.
Former was easy, £5, but had to wait till this morning to order the springs, but got them from same company from 6 years previously and still at same price!
Now just a waiting game till all gets delivered and then the fun of spring replacement. Just glad MoT not this week!
Never a dull moment with our cars
Hop a long (for another 2 weeks) Jim

:? oh bother! Hope your ankle is healing nicely and you will be sensible about driving for a while after it is released from the boot - so probably have to put up with the distress of gear change crunches in the hands of others for a few weeks yet?!

Trust the repairs go smoothly and Mabel sails through the MOT in a couple of weeks.

Mabel sailed through MoT this morning, albeit new front springs not quite "settled in" so headlights needed a wee tweak!

Historic Road Tax approved on-line too (sweet!)

So she's ready for the cruise down with Pete & Horace to Hot Rods and Hills on 8 June, just hope I will be !!!

Hop-a-long Jim

Cheers min', allowed to walk about without crutches, 100% weight bearing, but still with "ski boot" on, so mate had to drive her to MOT with me criticizing his gear changing again!!!

Mabel has now got window frames, to assist electric windows being more secure when in closed position. Too much flex due to the small retaining plate I used. Every day's a school day!

Just renewed insurance with Classicline through NSRA and have eventually submitted photos and info for an agreed valuation, which I hadn't done since first getting her on the road in 2011. £102 for unlimited mileage, with UK & Europe breakdown cover, pretty good me thinks.
Mabel looking not bad this year too;
