Haven't had the Pick Up out for over 3 months, but it's received a major clean and polish and it's time to get this 'Bad Ass' Pickup out for it's 2016 run this weekend.

Looking Forward to it....... :D

Still too much salt on the roads up here to take mine out - you can almost taste the stuff.

Sorry for bumping a slightly older thread but its been fantastic to read more about this pickup, i absolutely love it.

Have had this link bookmarked since I first saw it on Speedhunters last year http://www.speedhunters.com/2015/09/minor-threat-the-lotus-powered-pickup/

Its very much been the epitome of Morris porn and you just have to admire the quality and finish of the car, congratulations on a fine build!

Thanks Doc for your comments. I'm glad you've enjoyed reading both threads.
Took it out for a local Speed Festival around a small town. The roads had been closed off so we could entertain the spectators and this wee Pick Up managed to surprise a few. ;)

I'm currently undertaking a little Engine tweak to give it more Growl...

Thanks matey, you're the only person, apart from JLH who has driven the wee Pick Up, even wifey hasn't driven it so, via your comments it's good to inform folk that it isn't just a show car. Hope you'll return the favour by letting me drive 'Split Personality' when completed especially now I've made a purchase with a similar set-up to yours. ;)

I know you'll be itching to drive the Pick Up once slight modifications have been completed and as ever, you're welcome to do so.

At the point of writing this I have agreed to support a charity which will require me to take paying passengers around a race track. Now who would've thought people would pay to be a passenger in a 'Angry Little Pick Up' :D

Watch this space for updates expected to be happening during June. 8)

In the past few posts I've hinted the Pick Up is receiving some tweaks.

Well here's the 1st one.

Have you guessed what it is yet.???? :)

Ooh, Quaife stuff is quite racy isn't it - LSDs and straight-cut, close-ratio gearboxes spring to mind...

Just trying, like so many of us, to keep the Pick Up moving forward.

Like to think I'm making some tiny improvements to make it a little more different.

Well, what a blink'in challenging day it been. Best laid plans and all....

Pick Up is booked in for a Rolling Road tune tomorrow and very late Wednesday I was informed they require the engine to be fitted with either
a) Oil Temp Gauge or b) Oil Cooler.
Why this sounds simple, and in the old days before internet, many Car Factors stocked things like these but now we rely on lots of planning and time to get such items. Not a luxury I could afford today and made even more challenging when you've an old Lotus Engine.

Spent most of the morning ringing around trying to locate items which again isn't easy when you don't know the imperial thread pitch of items taken for granted on your engine, in this case, Oil Filter thread.!

Well, after much perseverance I finally got there, and Oil Cooler, Pipe, Fittings, Jubilee Clips etc all purchased and delivered to JLH. Thanks to Jonathan and Tom @ JLH for conjuring and cajoling the whole items together in readiness for it's RR Tune Up tomorrow.

Lets see what happens and HOPEFULLY my SMILE will only get WIDER.... (very nervous about it though.!)

1) New Sequential Gear Box In

2) Upgraded Lotus Engine Fitted.

3) Omex Throttle Bodies on.

After a delayed start, while waiting for a 334bhp Mk1 Fiberglass Escort to come off the Rolling Road which was truly exceptionally built, the Pick Up made it's way onto the RR.

We were reminded just how this wee Pick Up has fought all the way as it revealed a few little gremlins. These we overcome but leave us with some little things to correct.

For those of you who have witnessed a vehicle on the RR you know that the Technicians have little disregard for your car as they seek to achieve the best set up.
So when they take it to a high RPM and hold it there you can start to grimace a little and hold your breath.! On the flip side, and in this case, when it's taken to 7000 RPM it does sound very smooth and sweet. :D

Due to a noise curfew we were unable to complete the tune, which in this case is a good thing as it will allow for the little items to be rectified.

However, by just having a partial tune it's revealed a BIG improvement on the original setup and has already given an insight in turning the Pick Up from an Angry little Ute into an Ute that is now RAGING. :x

HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A MORRIS MINOR PICK UP POWERED BY LOTUS.... :)

So if you see a Light Blue MM Pick Up approaching fast in your Rear View Mirror, make sure you either cover your ears or, listen to the smooth screaming sound it delivers.
