Been doing some work on the exhaust/silencer and it's nearly there...

2017_0608exhaust0005.JPG

The primary 2.5" is straight through to the standard exhaust pipe with a secondary 2.5" side exit

also the water rail mod..

How does the song go...." the first cut is the deepest " la la la

2017_0614tailhousing0001.JPG

Getting rid of the first 3 inches was relatively easy...

2017_0614tailhousing0002.JPG

the aim is to shorten it by 4.5 inches....

The Handbrake...

Last time I fitted new handbrake cables it was a PITA , two man job , well took a look at this while the interior was stripped and this is what I found..
The cables , even though they go through guides , rub on the metal...so

after "teasing" the slot to line up withthe cable...

2017_1110handbrake0018.JPG

slit a little piece of polyhose

2017_1110handbrake0019.JPG

and held it in place/sealed with gaffa tape

2017_1110handbrake0020.JPG

next time , five minute job to replace the handbrake cables....

Because the gearbox crossmember was removed...no fixings , so had to...

on the left , and on the right...

2017_1110gearlevers0006.JPG

One fixing missing, but I won't worry about that...

Note the neat clutch slave cylinder..

Nearing completion ( apart from the back axle and ABS - planned for next Autumn ) , and just had a quick look at weights...

MM.........787 Kg.......Ford Focus 2.0...1280 Kg
Engine.....111 Kg.......Engine..............125 Kg
G/box.......20 Kg.......Type 9...............44 kg
Back axle....38 Kg.......Escort Mk2.........37 Kg
BHP.........35 BHP...........................128 BHP

So,taking the four items from column 1 and replacing with those from column 2 gives..

Sleeper Kerb Weight 826Kg ,128BHP.

If my figures are correct ?
Should make for an interesting ride...

Another PITA job on the sleeper was undoing the front panel nuts/bolts , especially the "hockey sticks" , so just bit the bullet and fitted caged nuts to all the front screws....
