I'm getting there slowly, but got engine fired up yesterday. I'm waiting on a few small brake connections and I'll be able to fit new master cylinder and get brakes bled. Still got some wiring to do and set ride height and construct an exhaust system, then it's bodywork and interior.

No, but getting there. It's all the small stuff that has to be ordered and waited on. Once I have the last of the brake parts, i'll get that sorted and then do ride height, then it's bodywork, paint and interior and some wiring.

New master cylinder (JLH supplied) installed and brakes bled, Suspension dismantled (again) and ride height now set along with putting master cylinder bolts in the correct way (the bolt hits the torsion bar if not done so). New 2 inch over wings arrived from Jonathon and loosely fitted. Next job is body work.

I decided that the radiator I was using was a bit of a compromise, and thought I could just swap the outlets to make it fit better. I took it to a local rad guy who said that he thought the heat would cause it problems and advised against it (Sherpa Diesel). I therefore did a bit of research and found that the popular rad is one from a Peugeot 205 diesel, so for the sum of £50 I bought a new one. I made up some brackets and have ordered new hoses for it. I got an electric fan from a mate, and this will fit behind rad and should do the job. I also removed the old radiator support brackets (including bonnet mechanism) from the support panel and will use a choke cable to release bonnet. Unfortunately, the water pump is now leaking, so that's my next job. I also removed carb and cleaned it out as it's not running great, but I can't let it run long enough to clear it's throat as no rad fitted. One step forward i suppose, but I'm getting there.

New peugeot 205 radiator in and plumbed using reinforced hose and a filler neck in top hose. I moved radiator off centre - toward N/S to allow for electric fan fitting. Engine is now starting and running as it should, but needs valve clearances done as it's a bit tappity. I've started the paint preparation by stripping paint from boot and rear 3/4's. Paint stripper I bought proved almost useless, so I'm using a plastic disc on my angle grinder to take it off - a messy process. I also bought a new spray gun and replaced a burnt out angle grinder (halfords one - crap). I'm slowly getting there as things are almost back to normal and less time to spend on it.

Nice work, looks like the radiator should be efficient. Interesting placement of the coolant filler cap. Seem to recall my 2-litre Fiat twin-cam Minor had a Sherpa rad and Marina type expansion tank on the inner wing. I had to fit a brass bleed valve to the thermostat housing to get it to bleed properly.

I fitted a sherpa diesel rad the last time car was out, but it necessitated a botch up of hose to connect. It also had the usual expansion tank fitted, so when I fitted the peugeot rad I decided to opt for simplicity this time. I couldn't find a single neck, so went with this option. I had it running for a good while yesterday with the fan on and it never overheated.
