Hello from Surrey, UK

If you are new to the board or have never made a post before, don't just lurk around, post in here and introduce yourself and your Minor if you have one. It would be great to hear from you.

Hello from Surrey, UK

Postby SurreyLass » Fri Aug 12, 2016 11:03 am

Hi All

I am finally the proud owner of a 1966 Trafalgar Blue Morris 1000 saloon - I have wanted a Morris since I was 16, and it has taken me 27 years to get one! Doris the D Reg Morris is mine - she is quite shabby and needs lots of cosmetic and body work but is mechanically doing well, and is MOTs on the road and driving!

Just thought I would say hi!

I have just spent the last 4 hours cleaning all the interior vinyl it was so yucky! most of it is now that lovely pale blue and pretty much dirt free! nothing like a bit of a scrub with a toothbrush is there! I will try and work out how to post a picture shortly - fortunately you can't see the moldy headlining ripped and hanging down!!!

She has a 1990 Mini Cooper RSP for company too - that one is restored and shiny (took lots of years though!)

She was nearly called Deon (as in EON xxxD from her reg) but I don't think she is a Deon!! She is a bit of a Doris!

Another Mini owner - and an RSP to boot :D I've got a '91 Cooper in the garage, not very shiny at the moment though

Most people (even Mini people!) don't know what an RSP is! We have had BOT since 2002 - after the arrival of Boy No1 she went in garage and was SORN'd for 10 years - got her back on the road and then did the resto which was completed a year and a half ago now! Off to the Cranleigh Classic with BOT on Sunday! I am afraid I like original - so Doris will get the same treatment (eventually!!) Mind you Doris starts better than BOT! Here is BOT!

Had mine (Mainstream) since it was three years old and was my only car until it started to dissolve one winter  Here's it is a few years ago after a bit of a tidy up

I do like red - don't tell the other RSP owners though as their is a colour battle going on!

Doris will remain Trafalgar Blue - I know her previous owner and tried to buy her a year and a half ago, but they decided they weren't ready to sell (and my husband needed convincing!) - this time round the owners were easier to convince as was my husband. I bought Doris with 11 months MOT (but a bit of an iffy MOT in my opinion) for £800 - I think I did a decent bit of negotiating. She does need some mechanical work but not too much but bodywork needs plenty of attention (I did the old trick of taking the picture just after it had rained!!) but despite it all, I am desperately in love with her and a very proud Morris owner!
