Greetings!

If you are new to the board or have never made a post before, don't just lurk around, post in here and introduce yourself and your Minor if you have one. It would be great to hear from you.

Greetings!

Hello fellow Morris Minor fans. Here are a couple of photos of my newly acquired van.I had a white one a few years ago but sold it and missed driving an old morris so much that I found a replacement. It needs a bit of work but nothing too major. The floors could do with some repair/replacement but the van is generally straight and solid. The original colour (still in the engine bay)was I think, sage green, which I would like to return it to as the current green is a bit bright! It runs well and is in regular use and is all legal here in NZ.I have also just acquired a new old stock crankshaft, still covered in grease and wrapped in greaseproof paper, useful for an engine rebuild!Regards all,Gary from New Zealand.
P.S. I haven't named the van yet,open for suggestions!

:D Welcome to the forum Gary from a fellow green side-windowed van (though ours is darker green)! It looks a lovely van - what about 'Mike' as in Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc films?!

What a lovely van :) . Very rare to find one in such good condition in the UK where most have rusted badly now. I would think a later van like that (flashing indicators, tandem wipers, 1098cc engine and larger rear windows) is fairly rare in NZ? Would it have been locally assembled or exported from the UK?
Locally assembled probably meant a local colour range. If UK assembled, Sage Green was not a colour option on a van of that age but vans were often painted in the colours of the company which purchased them new, so nothing is "incorrect" really and I would paint it whatever colour you like ;)

Thanks!
I'll get a photo of the engine bay tomorrow as it is still in the original colour, perhaps you can tell me what the colour is.I think that most of our Minors here were locally assembled and that the vans/utes were still available here until 1974(?)There are still are few of them trundling around the roads here but declining. Most of the vans here seem to have windows in the side, the solid panel ones are a bit harder to find.

Good to see another NZ-er here. The van looks good from the pictures.

CKD imports assembled in NZ (4-door cars, van's and pickups) would have been painted locally, and there may have been different colours available.

Plenty had windows added in the back over the years.

Hi
Yes, I agree. Certainly the Aussie-assembled Minors had all their own colours--that is, different from the UK colours.

I have a van that I am restoring, with no side windows in the load area. I dread the day when I start driving it because of the very poor visibility to the rear. I think I will install a rear-facing camera (not kidding).

Hi,don't know if the colour shows up too well but here it is anyway,a very pale green of sorts.
My previous van had no windows in the side and I did fit a reversing camera to it.I nearly reversed into two ladies as they walked behind my already moving van....it was a close call! The camera was good.It was only a cheapie but gave a great view and it could be used as a rear view mirror while on the move.

That looks very much like the colour of my favorite (Aussie-built) Minor of my youth (a long time ago).

It was a 58 two-door.

I can't remember the colour name, but the word 'pacific' comes to mind.

I'll do some research.

Hi
No luck with the paint colour yet. Perhaps yours could be porcelain green (not used in Oz for Minors until 1963).

As for the vans (I have two) no progress for the last few years as I moved house and until recently they were 350km away.

I have built a new workshop at my new digs and plan to get started soon.
