vin numbers query

hi new to the site and minors,great site i must say
i have recently bought a morris 1000 1965 project
with a currennt v5 and chassis and engine numbers match the paper work
my querry is that there in no letters in the chassis numbere just 7 numbers.
was this the norm is should i worry.

Hello yoldy welcome to our friendly forum :D

I'm no expert on such matters but there should be some letter and number characters before the seven numbers. Have a look at the following link from the Potteries Branch which is useful. Scroll down about a third of the way down the page and you will see 'Chassis Number Identification' and a useful table with photos which might help.
