The older the get, the more disgusted I get with the sad loss of life in all wars. The first world war which both my grandfathers survived (wounded) and never talked about was a real shocker as it was essentially an upper class fight which used joe public to fight their battles. I can't see the modern person falling for the same propaganda - oh wait a minute?

G'day

A couple of pictures I took of our house on the 1st or 2nd of January 1975.
The surprising thing is that I sent the prints to Mum in Jan 75, to show them what was left of the house ,
and forty years later she could still find them and they look so good.
They were taken with a little point and shoot 110 camera.

Image
We had just got back to Darwin after driving up from Alice Springs (about 1000 miles) in my mates Mazda 1300 .
The surprising thing was that the cars survived as well as they did under the complete wreck of the house.
Mum and Dads Datsun 1800 L was where they left it but my Mk3 Sprite had moved.

Image
I was staggered that the roof had not been shredded but had only collapsed and had a couple of small holes
The vertical line on the right hand side was a bit of wardrobe with a coat hook imbedded in the side of the car
Other wise if the tank had not been split from behind it was driveable. The Datsun only lost the back and drivers windows and had significant stone chipping down the drivers side. I drove it to Melbourne a couple of months later.

Cheers
Graham

Dozens of Spitfires and Hurricanes flying over my house all day. Biggest collection in the sky since WW2.

Hearing all those Merlin engines on mass was spine tingling!

Taken up photography, here are a few of mine. The bee photo was actually taken with my mobile phone.
