Lovely thread and cracking pictures, if I may be so bold as to suggest that a Lady past her first flush of youth is still able to tackle the demands of long distance travel without disgrace is a wonderful thing. Hoping to have similar adventures when we become proud custodians of a woody ourselves. Have you resolved the more power/more gears thoughts at all?

Well Pateley has been and gone. Matilda pulled the Puck just over 500 miles over the weekend and apart from me thinking I had a 9 gallon tank she didn't let me down.

Here are a few images from the weekend involving her. I will post the rest of the photos I took on a gallery and then a report about the weekend.

One thing I forgot to do was photograph Matilda during the show. Worst still it was her 49th birthday!

Since I first got Matilda I have revarnished the wood twice. It has been labour intensive and never last more than 10 months. This is mostly down to the fact she sits outside all year.

At the end of September she has been at ESM for some TLC. She now has a different treatment, Sikkens and the difference is great. Today I collected her.

Below you'll see some before and after detail images. The wood is now a little darker but I will be able to continue the treatment without all the rubbing down.

Well pleased with the work done.

I think I'll be going this rout when Ted's new wood is on, plenty of time to see how the treatment holds up on Matilda ;)
Did you use Cuprinol 5 star to begin with?

I don't think anything else was used, just the Sikkens and elbow juice. ;)

Re: Matilda

Today I received an early Christmas present. Or should I say a got a glance of it before they were hidden from me.

I have had printed some authentic looking tax disc that would have been on Matilda when she was first registered. As part of the supply I have been sent 4 discs, each come with a lifetime guarantee so I opted for 2 with type printed details, 1 handwritten and one blank. As you can see the reverse has the printed details also.

As part of the service I had the correct issuing stamp added and with the date of first registration. The disc itself is for 12 months, hence ending in July 1971. I gather some like to have the month their cars were registered but they would not have been on the car originally.

All 4 disc, with the issuing stamp included and P&P cost £12. I ordered on Sunday and they arrived today (Tuesday).

He can supply any disc between 1921-2015.

If you are interested the details are as follows:

I always though Matilda was first registered in Chester but Greg told me in 1970 CA was not Chester but Denbighshire which is nearer to where the first owner lived. He knows his stuff.
