brake cylinder bolt size?

Postby wren1710 » Thu Mar 09, 2017 3:08 pm

Help...Please :?
Trying to replace the seized brake cylinders in the front brakes, But I recon I'll need new screws to hold the cylinders in place and for some reason EMS et al dosn't stock them and the new ones don't come with them. What size are they? head and thread as I read that it can be better to use allen key headed ones? I heard that they were 1/4 and 5/16th unf?

Except for the pre-BMC Minors or before standardization, the front brake cylinders are all UNF thread so reach for your inch spanners, not metric or Whitworth. I recall one is 7/16 or possibly 1/2 and the small one is 5/16.
