New'ish young drivers insurance

Postby DackJonnelly » Wed Jun 17, 2015 5:25 pm

Hi all!
I'm hoping someone on here will know the best people to go to for someone in my situation, my moggie is my second car but I have only been driving for about 8-9 months so my insurance will still be pretty damn high :x

I'm just looking for someone that will do the cheapest insurance for me  maybe something with limited miles if cheap enough?

Cheers in advance! :D

Jack.

As a second car you should be able to get it on a classic policy, try RH Specialists they are usually very good offering limited mileage and full breakdown cover.

Unfortunately RH don't insure drivers under 25 on classic policies.

Our young drivers will probably be better answering your question Jack.

I can not answer for a second car, but through Footman James using the MMOC club discount. I got my insurance for £705 though that inludes £175 of optional extras so the basic policy would have been £530. Which is not bad being as I am 21, it is my only car, I do not live in the best area for cheap insurance and I not being driving on the road since passing my test (who knew painting the roof of my car would take 22 months). The policy I have is limited to 3000 miles. Hope this is of use to you.

You maybe alright with RH they would not insure me as I under 25 and the car is my main car, however being as yours is a second car they may well insure you.

FJ would be first port of call. I've had pretty high quotes from them before, but that's because I was ticking all the bad boxes (only car, high miles, commuting, etc). Your circumstances sound ideally suited to cheap insurance. Are you an mmoc member? As that will help with FJ.

Alternatively, try Adrian Flux. I used them for a few years while FJ were quoting too high, but actually back with FJ now I'm unticking some of those bad boxes!
