What's the secret.

Hi Guys, I'm trying to replace the speedo cable on my lowlight ( speedo in front of driver) and can't get the speedo end fitted, just not enough room to get my big hands in. Thought I'd be clever and remove instrument panel, found one wing nut and removed it ( can't get that back on either,) only to find that there's no way in. Any tips you have would be great.

Well, the secret is patience and the ability to bend your arm in five places. I got the job done with the help of a mate. The main problem was that the connector on the new outer speedo cable wouldn't thread onto the back of the speedo, so I drilled out the old outer to take the larger cleat that was on the end of the new inner.
Whoever designed the original fitting of the dash panel with those near impossible to get to wing-nuts needs a dam good thrashing !
I must learn to be more patient.
