Is there a differance between these two flasher units?

Post by wren1710 »

I need a new flasher unit and have found two on ebay, one half the price of the other and as far as I can tell there is essentialy no difference, just one is for a mog and the other a land rover:

You can't guarantee it but both will probably work.

Also they could have the same pins but in a different layout.

I have had various ones including Ring and Intermotor and in the past would lift them off a car going to the scrapyard and use them.

What does sometimes happen is some wont work with hazard lights and some will work with a trailer without an additional relay while others wont.

I suspect the Lucas one won't as Indicators are 21w bulbs so 2 = 42w.

I cant tell what the spec of the Land Rover one is but it may support more.

I presume you have standard bulbs as neither will probably work with LED bulbs as they don't draw enough current to make the old style flasher unis work.

Sean.
