Postby imagoodbloke » Mon Apr 16, 2018 12:24 pm

Hi Guys
I’m replacing the pipe to the oil pressure gauge, will I need to bleed it ?
I know one of you clever guys will know the answer, you haven’t let me down yet !
Thanks Pete

No need to bleed. Pressure is pressure, whether oil or air, the gauge will read the pressure.

There will be a slight delay on the reading while the air compresses ( oil doesn't )

There will take no appreciable time to compress the air in the small diameter line.

I fitted my gauge along with piping and it worked straight away. :)

Thank you for all your comments. I ended up bleeding the pipe, but not by intention, I have oil seeping from the union behind the gauge, should there be a washer between the gauge and the “bell end” of the pipe? Please excuse the description, but what else do you cal it?

Yes, the back of the gauge is flat and the inside of the pipe is flat if they are smiths.

It is a red fibre type washer.

Failing that some PTFE tape wouldn't go amiss on your "bell-end"...
