That's shocking!
You are better off at pateley mate, a "national" rally at the end of a 1000 mile long landmass is beyond my understanding. Perhaps I'm just a thick northerner.

All such things should be in the central area of the UK. Of course, living in that area myself I may appear slightly biased but I'm not really,

Don't know why they don't have it somewhere like Pateley Bridge? At least it's equal distance for those far away up north or down south and those nearby don't need to get a passport.

Wait a minute they can find there own perfect place..!

No and it never will be as we are just a minority that don't have enough members to qualify for it coming north.

I would drive all over (albeit, when I am retired and have no time limits) as I do agree with one of the persons on the MMOC website, it is the drive there and back that is a big part of the adventure too, but agree with the majority, that far south is just too far - maybe us Jocks could ask the MMOC to sponsor/pay a percentage of our fuel costs - they have the funds!!!

But and this is a big BUT! - having been to my first Nationals this year, what with it being the 40th anniversary and all, I was and still am, really disappointed with what I saw/got involved in and cannot see me attending another, if this year's one was supposed to be a "special" one.

Had a much better time at Pateley Bridge and at Lochwinnoch (Clydeside Cruisers' weekend) - being made so welcome by all (which for a Copper No Mates :( - is really appreciated :raz: )

Here's hoping I can make the Scottish "Nationals" next year and bolster attendance numbers as well.

It's always been the case that the Scots have to travel.I used to attend hot rod events all over the country - as far south as the New Forrest, and as has been said, the journey is part of the fun. I know that the Scottish hot rod guys are continually attending events down south and just accept it as we are a small nation numerically, but with a large land mass, so travel is inevitable. I tried years ago to organise a Scottish national hot rod event, but projected numbers just wouldn't have made it viable. I really don't have a great problem with the MMOC nationals being held on the South coast, but the venues have to be shared amongst the whole of the UK otherwise it can't really be called The Nationals.
There is a Hot Rod event held annually in the lake District - Hot rods and hills event, and I think we should make an effort to attend this. Apparently the site is great and it's well attended. I'll post details of the 2017 event when it becomes available - we could use this as a Northern Nationals as it would save a lot of work organising one ourselves.

Great idea Pete - the Clydesidecruisers spoke about it and the reports in Custom Car each year, keep getting better and better. Up for that, if I can get time off!!!

Well sorry but I won't be going next year ITS TOO FAR!!:(
I was talking with Mark and had suggested we take a run up north say Ullapool, use that as a base camp then go for a run in our cars on sat. Just like what we do at plately bridge. And that would give guys and girls with Morris minors who are not going to the nationals because it's TOO FAR? to join us and chill out, have a laugh usual stuff.

Just saying!

Just reading the "advert" for the 2017 National Rally in March/April edition of Minor Matters, bit disappointed that the Custom and modified Morris vehicles, come under the "Weekend entertainment" title.
Is this how the section is considered by the MMOC?
Given that the majority of customs at the 2016 Nationals were from Scotland, this piece of "entertainment" may be a bit light on numbers? unless there were a number of more southern custom minors unable to make the 40th anniversary meet.
Am I reading too much into this, or lighting the blue touch paper.....
