Today I visited two venues, The Coore Arms the pub in nearby Scruton and The Reubens in Leeming Bar.

I need a response from everyone as to yes or no about going, please...

My gut reaction is I feel The Reubens will cope with our numbers better. It can cater for up to 120 people and seemed more helpful in taking us. The landlord at the Core Arms had just had 4 tables worth of people arrive and seemed a little under pressure. He wanted me to phone him with firm numbers. I think they say they can cater for about 60 for functions. I have made the executive decision to go with The Reubens. The pub may be better for a smaller group to consider on Sunday evening.

As such here are some details for The Reubens.

If we go with around 30 people we will be offered the function room (image 1) to ourselves. If we are at the current number of about 15 then we will be in the bar/main area (image 2). The car park is quite large so should cope with us (image 3).

I was given a menu (image 4) that is currently being used which is different to what is online. It has a good choice and he also suggested other dishes can be added if requested. Notice would be needed.

Finally you will see I have included the manager's card (image 5). This is so that we can help each other out.

If we go unannounced as to what we want to eat it could result in a long wait as they start cooking from scratch, this is the same for anywhere else. It would help them greatly if they knew what they need to get ready beforehand. He has suggested that I get numbers as to how many are going but each member contacts him directly with their choice. This he does not mind doing. He may even be able to advise better to any other options like bolognese/pasta/pies etc. Remember if you don't contact him your order may be delayed.

I have not set a time as yet. We will need a time so welcome suggestions but I'm thinking 7pm. Please send reconfirmation you wish to go on ag1612 @ gmail. com (remove spaces), thanks. Alan

Today I took Matilda to Leyburn, the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. First of all I bumped into her older cousin:

I then went over the grouse moors towards Grinton then doubled back to Redmire. I took along a photo club friend who I kicked out along the way to take these shots, just gives you a feel of the possible drive outs we can have...

After that we past Aysgarth Falls and then stopped at a lovely little waterfall that I've never seen or heard of before.

I'm glad the arrangements are going along smoothly for next week. I have 19 members saying yes to the meal on Saturday night. Just waiting to hear from a few others.

Plans here are rapidly developing
Im not at all sure what ill be driving or camping in come Friday

Its likely that I may be driving Phil's priceless convertible that has only done 100 miles since full rebuild, including engine! (yes ive got breakdown cover) He can't get the time off work, a few have gone sick and his contract says he has to cover or you wont get your Milk :think (tanker driver)

I wouldn't dare leave it in any car park so ill stay at camp and keep an eye on things.

If it works out that im not driving that car, ill be in the van but its all late notice and so, ill still stay at the camp and keep an eye on things.

See you there.

Al
