The 8th MMO National Gathering 2021

All subject to travel and health restrictions in place in August but we are pleased to announce the 8th MMO National Gathering has been arranged for the weekend Friday 6th to Monday 9th August 2021.

Our new venue is Stonebridge Fishing Lakes, Caravan & Glamping Park, Scruton, Northallerton, N. Yorks. DL7 0RL
. https://www.stonebridgefishinglakes.co.uk

This is a countryside venue but only 5 minutes drive to Leeming Bar and about 10 minutes drive to the market towns of Northallerton and Bedale.

We have a 5 acre field at our disposal so social distancing shouldn't be an issue. The majority of our fees are to provide access to the caravan park shower and WC block which are much better than at Pateley but just a little further depending where on the field you pitch. There is no discount if you use a bottle…

The cost is £7 per person per night which is at least 1/2 the price of other local sites. Advanced payment is not needed but we do need you to book your place in advance. Some of you have expressed an interest already and are listed below but we will need that to be confirmed via the forum PM to Big Al with your details:

Full name & Forum username
Tent/pod/caravan & if using an awning
Car(s) basic details
Numbers attending with you
Which nights needed.

The makeup of the weekend will develop once we have numbers. We have many options open to us as a group or going out alone. The area has much to offer.

Bookings are only being taken via the MMO forum message system.

The following are planning to go...

Plastic Orange (Pete)
Ruairidh (Campbell)

For info the local pub, the Coore Arms, comes recommended. Excellent food and real ale! As I'm very local (lived nearby for the last 54 years) I'd be glad to help with local info. I'll pop up for a day visit.

I know all the more challenging Dales back roads if anyone wants a scenic drive out. If you've never done Buttertubs Pass I'd recommend it

First time I went over it in a Morris there was no catch fencing and I still had 7" drums!

I followed up the suggestion by TDV102 about a trip over Buttertubs Pass in the Yorkshire Dales. I have added a few of my own images and video taken today.

From the campsite to the pass using a circular route is a 66 mile round trip. Some might find this too far but I will be doing it again in the near future, the landscape is breathtaking.

We stopped in Hawes for a coffee and cake and we past through a number of villages that had pubs, bakers and public toilets. To give a comparison Pateley Bridge to Kettlewell is a 36 mile return trip. I will look at other options in time.

Good innit! Last time I did it was when I had my GT-Four. Deserted road, March, 4WD, Turbocharger. Yes it was fun. Takes a bit longer in a Minor. God was having a good day when he built Yorkshire

I was having a chat with him over the weekend, he wasn't happy. With lockdown easing he can't work from home any more... ;)

I guess that was on Sunday? Northallerton has many places of worship. Mine was the Stumble Inn before lockdown.
