Wheel colour

Postby greendefender123 » Thu Apr 20, 2017 9:41 pm

Hello im unsure what colour to do the wheels on my 1970 smoke grey traveller. They're silver and rusty at the moment. Do I paint them old english white like earlier 1000s or silver again? Anybody know what shade of silver? Tho im thinking the oew.

Thanks Steve

I gather the 1970 Travellers had silver wheels as standard, along with silver painted inner door step sill covers.

They did but they look so wrong. I much prefer my oew mix. Dont my kick plates body colour and have got stainless sill finishers.

My friends got silver wheels on her saloon and hates them.

I deffently think iv made the made the right decision especially as I didn't have to buy the paint. I just mixed what I found in the shed. I believe they just painted the wheels silver to give them a modern look.

My 1970 Traveller has been through several variations of silver, OEW and even black wheels at various points! Currently it's on a compromise of gunmetal silver on LP917 van rims, which suits it pretty well.
