Timing chain tehsioner on 1275

Postby geezer » Tue Jul 05, 2016 4:42 pm

I am building a 1275 Midget engine for my Morris Minor. In the process I would like to add the chain tensioner like that used on the A+ engines. Looks like all I will need is a front cover and tensioner parts. It looks like all I will need to do is drill a couple of holes to accommodate the different cover.

Any insight on doing the conversion?

That's it - very easy - covered many times, use the search facility.

Is it even needed on a 1275cc Midget engine, since they are fitted as standard with the duplex (twin) timing chain? :?

I rebuilt mine 60,000+ miles ago (new duplex chain fitted), and it still runs pretty quietly.
