STOLEN MAD282F

Postby dp » Sat Apr 12, 2014 4:49 pm

Apologies if the wrong sub-forum,

stolen from outside my house Apr 11 or 12 Southend on Sea/Thorpe bay area

Unusual features, dechromed, black grill, fatter tyres. Number plate MAD282F. Highly modified but that won't necessarily be opbious

Police already informed, off now to trawl the local streets to see if it's been dumped

I'll keep my eyes open Darren. I hope it is found soon and the Scumbags who nicked it get what they deserve. I have made the topic a sticky.

Thanks all, I've just come back from a drive around the local streets in case it was abandoned - no such luck.

:( So sorry to hear your lovely Minor has been stolen :x . will keep my eye out but doubt it would make it up here. I see you have also posted on 'the other side' so hopefully more eyes will be looking for you. Sincerely hope you are reunited soon and that it hasn't been wrecked.

Sorry to hear this news,

Known Darren and MAD for years.............very sad.

Fingers crossed that it turns up soon.

I have asked all my local buddies to keep their eyes peeled.

Any CCTV about your area Darren?

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts.

To answer some questions:
I'm in a residential area so there's no cctv nearby. If the numberplate goes through any ANPR (automatic numberplate recognition) cameras it will flash a light at a control centre as a stolen vehicle. BUT the officer attending said that it was unlikely that it was joyriders. They don't get many joyriders anymore as to paraphrase, ' Such people are looking for quick money for joy (adidas trainers, feeding a habit, etc) rather than joy from riding.

As a classic, more likely stolen as something interesting. I asked a lot of questions about this since it's not a very concours Minor nor something like an Aston or Ferrari. Apparently the gangs are 'looking for something interesting' which will be quickly towed into a van or small truck (hence no ANPR pings) left somewhere for a week or two to see if the there is a tracker then stuck on a container in Tilbury. I asked if there was a particular destination suggesting Russia or Africa but if it leaves the country UAE is popular because 'expensive' doesn't impress so there's a market for 'unique' or 'different'. Good luck keeping that engine cool in UAE...

Apparently 'no-one ever finds bits of their car on Ebay' either which is a bit surprising.

I've deleted the ranty stuff

Commiserations I will keep an eye out as well.

Unfortunatelly too late for yourself but I guess the police feedback tells us a tracker is about the only thing which could get a car back, I think it may be time to look into one for my cars.
