Favourite Tools For Awkward Jobs

We've all been there. Nuts and bolts that are rusted solid, or even cold welded with corrosion. One tool I could not do without is the nut splitter, very handy when it's not safe to use a blow lamp to get rusted nuts turning.

I hate using the angle grinder! Lethal things, way too fast, and once you've seen one throw a disc, Ah.

Better than nut splitter are my set of Irwin bolt grippers. these have a spiral flute that grips the flats of a nut bolt that has rusted solid. I've even been able to build up weld onto a completely rounded worn chiselled down bolt, file a flat into the weld and use the bolt grippers to undo.

They have a hexagon on the side so you can use them with  a spanner as well as ratchet in tight spots (like the awkward bolt in the top corner of front wing).Image

Great bit of kit, you can also apparently use them with air tools.

Didn't even know there was such an animal CJ. Will be ordering a set for sure.
