Re: Matilda's Resurrection

Hi

I saw a NOS entire Traveller B post on e bay a couple of days ago. Very pricey though and a lot of surface rust.

Re: Seatbelt mounting bracket

probably home made Yes. My late 1970 two-door saloon has the mounting point in the position shown by 'old english white' above. It is certainly where the factory placed the mounting point. Unfortuately, this position is less than ideal--for me at least. It results in the belt constantly wanting to ...

Re: Larger capacity fuel tank ( Saloon )

Hi John

I think this info from an earlier ESM newsletter makes the matter clearer. I think the new tank offers what you are looking for--bigger capacity than series 3 and 5 capacity yet room to store the spare.

Re: Larger capacity fuel tank ( Saloon )

Oooops

That link doesn't show the model that I intended. You are correct that the link is to a tank that requires relocation of the spare tyre.

Here is some information from a recent ESM newletter about the new one that does NOT require relocation of the spare:

Re: new member

Hi Alex and welcome from me in Australia

I am restoring a Traveller. It was rusty but all the rust has been replaced with good metal now.

Unfortunately, it is still in about 10,000 pieces.

I am looking forward to seeing lots of pictures of your restoration as it progresses.

Re: bouncy speedo needle

Well done!
May you have many years of bounce-free speedo readings.

Re: bouncy speedo needle

The bouncy speedo can be caused by a 'sticky' speedo drive cable or high friction in the odometer. I think that either of these would be more likely than the drive gear. It is fairly easy to provide (just a little) lubrication for the cable. A sticky odometer requires a tricky overhaul of the speedo...

Re: My '58 Van

I just feel that it’ll be better with the monitor positioned where the rear view mirror would be Yes, looking down at a screen is less than desirable when driving. As you are no doubt aware, there are accessory reversing cameras where the screen is embedded in the interior rear vision mirror. Don

Re: My '58 Van

Oooops  Poolguy: Sorry about getting your name wrong. Please keep us informed about the camera -- lets hope it is a huge success. The poor rearward vision from the van is a real concern for me and I know there are many others who feel the same way. BTW I saw a picture recently of a van where t...

Re: My '58 Van

Hi Mick

Have you considered keeping the reversing camera permanently ON (while the ignition is ON)? This would give you a supplement to the mirrors -- not just when reversing.

I only ask because I am considering this for my van (still off the road for restoration).

Re: Self cancelling indicators

I’m trying the head, not the nut it screws into.
I hope I'm not telling you how to suck eggs...

You must slacken off the nut against the column before you attempt to adjust the bolt.

Re: 1200cc Datson Engine

OK, I see. I can't say for the UK. I gather that the tinworm plague you have over there means that the RWD Datsuns disappeared from your roads a very long time ago along with support for them. They are very tough, reliable engines (and the gearboxes and diffs too) so you would be unlucky to need muc...

Re: 1200cc Datson Engine

I agree.

For the OP's info, I can point him in the direction of web sites that show how to fit the A12 into a Minor (and even a Spriget). They are a relatively simple job to fit to a Minor and involves very little tampering with the bodywork.
