Re: Exhaust choice
We have a stainless exhaust on our traveller and they do sound different. Bit noisier and less parp on the over run. I remember fitting a genuine exhaust to a traveller many many moons ago and it was a fight so if you get a genuine second hand pipe that is less than sound expect it to fold on fittin...

Re: brake problems
Blimey what a palaver! Where did you get the replacement parts from? I would worry about brake components failing on install, it is lucky you have the skills and equipment to get round the deficiencies of the "new" parts . Well done!

Re: Lumpy running
I would first check that the timing is set accurately. Was the distributor loose at all as it seems odd that winding in the advance adjustment and turning the dizzy "a bit" has helped.Set at 5' btdc as a starting point. Do you get a good spark? is there any signs of arking at the points? Always star...

Rear shoe adjustment.
Well after a long layoff due to the pestilence in our land I gave the traveller a once over and have had a couple of short runs out. Oh happy day. All is not as it should be in the stop department though. When we got Dorris I gave her a once over and the rear brake shoes were on the maximum adjustme...

Re: location of a red wire with round connector
A picture would help however I would be suspicious of the ignition light not coming on, and I would investigate where there is voltage or not.Don't overlook the obvious and start with the simplest things, flat battery blown fuses poor earths etc. You can check the solenoid by having a feel around it...

Re: christmas fettling
Bit more fettling, car was a bit lazy to start sometimes and I am happy the battery is sound so changed the "cup" style battery terminals for clamp ones and now seems to start fine. Also noticed that I had a "short" rad cap and a long rad tank so yet more stuff ordered

christmas fettling
As we have had a couple of dry days I wheeled out Doris for a bit of light relief from all that happens indoors at Christmas. I knew the top and bottom hoses were a bit ropy and was unsure of the age/quality of the coolant so I started by flushing the rad and block and found the thermostat was missi...

Re: Morris Minor - The Perfect Classic Car Daily Driver???
Not sure I would choose to drive our mog every day however we have just had to break out Doris from hibernation when our modern motor decided to have a hissy fit and not go! Have to say I had forgotten what fun these cars are to drive even in the pouring rain and dark despite the serious lack of ven...

Re: doris the morris
Nice looking car. The only thing I would perhaps add, is some red pinstripes on the bonnet/door flashes, to match the interior. I need to add some to my 1970 Trafalgar Blue Traveller, which apparently should be Pearl Grey, according to the MMOC list above. I used to have gold ones on it, which I th...
