Re: My '58 Van

I reckon I could do that. I would have to make the hoops as the car ones would most probably be too short, anyone know what they are usually made from as I have never seen them?

I think a heritage certificate is the only way to find out production dates.

Re: My '58 Van

Cheers Pete. I was going to use a sheet of 3.6mm ply on the sides with 4-way stretch carpet glued to it and the wheel arches. I have been doing a lot of head-scratching regarding the headliner, definitely will not be using fur though   I did that to a Ford Escort mk1 in the 80's  :r...

Re: My '58 Van

I'm looking at tidying the back of the van by trimming the walls and arches and putting some sort of headlining in. Does anyone have any ideas about how to fit a headlining in a van back? A van that I looked at before buying mine had a proper headling fitted (wish I'd taken a photo), I'm just not su...

Re: Matilda's Resurrection

I would replace the rotten section of wood before doing any cutting or welding, it'll be easier to make the metal fit to the wood than make the wood fit to the metal, plus it would give rigidity to the entire Ash frame whilst rotating the car.

Re: Torque setting for minilights

Thanks Sean
50lb ft does sound better to me, I'll nip out and re-torque them i think for peace of mind.

Re: My '58 Van

They are 5.5 x 14, I wanted 15" but was told they no longer made them that size in the colour I wanted only silver.

Torque setting for minilights

What should minilight alloys be torqued up to ?

I know standard steel wheels should be 37 - 39 lb/ft but the fitter who fitted the alloys on the van said he'd torqued them too 110 nm, this seemed excessive to me on the shinny minor wheel studs.

Any advice appreciated.

Re: My '58 Van

Got tyres fitted to these babies this morning, only drove about 8 miles on them but it feels like a much better ride now. :D 20200725_150537.jpg 20200725_150547.jpg I'm going to get the 5.5j steelies sorted with new tyres soon then I have a choice of look for the van depending on mood. 8) Hmmm :thin...

Re: Astral Traveller

Hopefully it will stay in one piece, it would be a shame to see it stripped and sent to the four corners especially with all the history attached.

Which polish?

There are so many polishes on the market and as I used the last of my Autoglym super resin polish, thought it time to see if I can find something that will make the shine last longer.

What do you use and can recommend?
