Re: My '58 Van

My brother had a van that was lined in fur and draylon back in the 70's. I'll dig out some pics if you like - or not lol. I'm sure Andy had the rear of his diesel van lined. You can buy thin material from ebay and glue it to thin ply board screwed to van bodywork. You may even get away with a sheet ...

Re: My Minors part 3

New peugeot 205 radiator in and plumbed using reinforced hose and a filler neck in top hose. I moved radiator off centre - toward N/S to allow for electric fan fitting. Engine is now starting and running as it should, but needs valve clearances done as it's a bit tappity. I've started the paint prep...

Re: Retropower Minor Build

I've seen comments regarding this on facebook and it was billed as moving the minor on to the next level. I don't really see it's any more advanced than the likes of Robin Beardmore's Minor, nor what Jonathon at JLH does. I kind of took exception to his comments about modified Minors in general as I...

Re: My Minors part 3

I decided that the radiator I was using was a bit of a compromise, and thought I could just swap the outlets to make it fit better. I took it to a local rad guy who said that he thought the heat would cause it problems and advised against it (Sherpa Diesel). I therefore did a bit of research and fou...

Re: 1970 Minor 1000 Rebuild

Watching your progress is like Deja-vu. Like you, It started as a quick repair, to this is actually quite bad, going to terrible, and then I wish I'd got another shell, then should I scrap it. Then came lockdown and i thought it's now or never and finished off replacing front legs (complete), tie pl...

Re: My Minors part 3

New master cylinder (JLH supplied) installed and brakes bled, Suspension dismantled (again) and ride height now set along with putting master cylinder bolts in the correct way (the bolt hits the torsion bar if not done so). New 2 inch over wings arrived from Jonathon and loosely fitted. Next job is ...

Re: ENGINE NUMBER

Hi and welcome. Engine size should be stamped on the engine block. An 803 is a weak engine and is painfully slow, and if the engine you have is stamped 950 or 1100 then that is a bonus. As far as originality is concerned, you may find that having a larger engine (still an A series) may make the car ...

Just about finished the Pete....
No, but getting there. It's all the small stuff that has to be ordered and waited on. Once I have the last of the brake parts, i'll get that sorted and then do ride height, then it's bodywork, paint and interior and some wiring.

Re: My Minors part 3

I'm getting there slowly, but got engine fired up yesterday. I'm waiting on a few small brake connections and I'll be able to fit new master cylinder and get brakes bled. Still got some wiring to do and set ride height and construct an exhaust system, then it's bodywork and interior.

You've done a mountain of work to this over the years, hopefully momentum keeps going and finally gets out of your garage.

Are you going to paint it yourself?
Yes, that's on the to do list.

Re: My Minors part 3

I'd forgotten how much work it is to get a project back on the road. This car was basically a rolling shell with almost all underfloor panels replaced, but needed new full chassis legs and bay floors, plus flitch panels - and repairs to bump stop area and inner wing, then all new brake pipes, flexis...
