Re: Time For Some Serious Woodwork

That's another grim find. At least you were expecting nothing less.

Re: Gwen.

Carried on with this today. First up was a bit of CAD. IMG_20200625_111126609.jpg I made it in three pieces and stuck it them together. IMG_20200625_122742978.jpg Something to weld to was missing. IMG_20200625_124058246.jpg So I put something in there. IMG_20200625_130839731.jpg Enough holes were ad...

Re: Gwen.

Back on this today. I got this out and stuck a 90 degree bend in. IMG_20200621_110916612.jpg Then I got some card to get a rough size. IMG_20200621_110941554.jpg Roughly the right size. IMG_20200621_110949217.jpg Put a bit of a curve in to it. IMG_20200621_111027453.jpg Try it for size. IMG_20200621...

Re: Time For Some Serious Woodwork

You have quite the war going on there, all that rust was well hidden.

At least you have the skills, that would have been an awful lot of labour hours

Re: My Minors part 3

You've done a mountain of work to this over the years, hopefully momentum keeps going and finally gets out of your garage.

Are you going to paint it yourself?

Re: Gwen.

Carried on again today. First up was to yet again carry on with the cleaning underneath. Once I'd got the area behind the crossmember done it got a coat of treatment. IMG_20200619_145555053.jpg As I'd had enough of cleaning I got it into a slightly better position. IMG_20200619_150511693.jpg Replace...

Re: Gwen.

Bit more done today, I got some degreaser IMG_20200617_114804537.jpg Thought they were worth a try. It turns out they work perfectly as intended. IMG_20200617_142548864.jpg Couple more days and the underside should be clean enough to move on to the next bit. Really happy with the condition underneat...

Re: Gwen.

Upgraded the welder to this. IMG_20200616_103003560.jpg I had to have a play, first I had some 4mm lying about so did this. IMG_20200616_103011156.jpg Then I tried some 1mm I had, this is both sides of the same piece. IMG_20200616_105036966.jpg IMG_20200616_105032138.jpg Then I actually got on with ...

Re: Gwen.

Pete, I'm putting rust converter (Vactan type stuff) which has been proven to keep rust away from even bare steel left out in all weathers so I'm happy that it is not going to degrade, when I've replaced patches that need doing in going to paint it with por 15 that has stood up to some abuse without...

Re: Gwen.

It is in great condition mainly due to this waxy stuff everywhere. IMG_20200614_143412042.jpg Carrying on, first I tipped it on its side. IMG_20200614_133837820.jpg Then I started scraping all the stuff off the underneath of the car, cardboard was there to collect as much as possible. IMG_20200614_1...

Re: Gwen.

I had a shuffle about and put her not blocking everything IMG_20200606_125014005.jpg Then the interior, gearbox and propshaft got removed. IMG_20200607_133102304.jpg Then I got the driver's side to a comfortable working height. IMG_20200607_143812831.jpg The front arch cleaned up ok IMG_20200610_144...

Re: Gwen.

Well it has been quite a while. I have been preoccupied with normal life getting in the way (being lazy) I tried a new career being a local bus driver but the hours were just too random so I went back to doing what I know servicing safety cabinets, pharmacy production suite and all of that type of t...
